Laminate Products

Can I sit a hot pan directly on the counter top?

No, laminate will not withstand the heat, it will burn or blister the laminate.It is recommended you always use a hot pad or trivet.

Does Laminate Stain?

Laminate will stain, dark or red colored liquids stain the quickest. It is best to clean up spills right away.


3.

Can Laminate be repaired?

Laminate cannot be repaired if stained or scratched. There can be a color fill added to a small chip.

  Will water damage the counter?

  Water will damage the counter if the water gets into the wood substrate. This is more likely to occur when there are joints and seams.


5.

What do I use to clean Laminate?

Any spray cleaner will work as long as it has no bleach or abrasives in the ingredients.

Can a rolled age be on the front and side edge?

No, the manufacturing process only allows for rolled edge to be on opposite of parallel sides.


7.

How long can a top be made without a seam?

Laminate tops can be made up to 12 ft. without having a seam or joint.

  What if my cabinets are not level?

  The counters will only be as level as the cabinets. Shims may have to be put under the counter in order to make them level. This may require some molding to   be used to cover gaps between the cabinet and counter top. 


Granite Products

Can I sit a hot pan directly on the counter?

Granite does withstand heat better than most counter top material, but, it is recommended you still use a hot pad or trivet.

Does Granite chip?

Even though granite is a hard material, it will chip if a heavy objects are dropped on it, especially around the edges.

Does Granite scratch?

Granite does not scratch easily but if heavy sharp objects drag across the counter it will scratch.

Can Granite be repaired?

Chips in granite can be color filled with granite glue that can hide the chip. Scratches  are difficult to polish out and most times leaves the surface with a incosistent finish.

Will Water damage the counter top?

Water wjll not damage the counter. Water that is left for long periods of time may leave water spots, but as the moisture evaporates from the stone those should disappear.

What do I use to clean the granite?

Soap and water or any granite cleaner sold by Lowe's is recommended to clean the stone. No bleach or abrasives should be used. 


7.

How long can a top be made without a seam?

Granite slabs usually run between 9 and 10 ft. long, so the length will be determined by the slab length. 


8.

What if my cabinets are not level?

The counters will only be as level as the cabinets. Shims maybe placed under the counter to make them level. This may require molding to be used to cover the gaps between the cabinet and top.
